MIRROR & PLASTER
Each work of this Mirror & Plaster Series is named Untitled. Privately, each unit of this installation is only a lump of plaster with a piece of IKEA Mirror. This project explored and expressed the materiality and the spatiality using mirrors and geometric plaster forms with simplicity and conciseness. Jonathan Kim focused more on the artwork itself, in form and material, which does not describe and stand for anything other than the thing itself. Therefore, Each installation seemed to show its beauty just by simplifying and repeating a basic geometric form with the physical location. However, regardless of his intention, the viewers could observe the fragments of their surroundings, which interfered with their observation somehow. Due to these experiences, his practice has since expanded to post-minimal concepts.
